Alpine Expands Restyle Kit Selection

Torrance, Calif. — Alpine continues to expand its selection of vehicle-specific Restyle kits, which bundle a 9-inch car-navigation/multimedia receiver with dash kits and harnesses to replace smaller factory displays in specific full-size trucks and some SUVs.

The latest addition is the $3,400-suggested X009-GM2 kit, which fits 2007-2013 GM trucks with upper dash-mounted factory radios. It is shipping.

With the launch, the company is shipping five Restyle dash systems for specific vehicle models and plans systems for two more vehicles in the spring. The first was launched last year. The company also offers a generic Restyle kit for custom installation in other trucks and SUVs.

Restyle dash kits designed for specific vehicles match the color, texture and shape of the factory dash to maintain a stock look. They also replace factory dash buttons with hard keys whose backlighting matches the lighting of the factory instrument cluster.

The kits include wiring to plug into the factory wiring harness, antenna adapter if necessary, and an iDataLink Maestro module that connects to the factory databus to retain factory infotainment-system features. In many cases, the module also adds features that the factory infotainment systems don’t offer.

The kits’ nav system is compatible with Alpine’s TuneIt smartphone app to tailor sound-system response to a specific vehicle’s interior acoustics.

The first Restyle launched last year was for select GM trucks and SUVs, but with the new kit, the Restyle program covers the majority of 2007-2013 GM trucks on the road, said Steve Crawford, VP/GM of Alpine’s aftermarket business unit.

The new kit is compatible with the 2007-2013 Chevrolet Silverado/2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra/2500HD/3500HD vehicles with factory radios in the upper dash.

Other X009 kits available are the:

• X009-RAM for select 2013-up Ram trucks;

• the X009-TND for 2007-2013 Toyota Tundra trucks;

• X009-FD1 for select Ford F-150 trucks with base radio system;

• X009-GM for lower dash radio styles on select 2007-2013 GM trucks and 2007-2014 GM SUVs; and

• the X009U for custom installation in a variety of trucks and SUVs.

In the spring, the company plans to ship a kit for select 2013-2014 Ford F-150 trucks with MyFord 4.2-inch screen (X009-FD2) and a kit for the 2011-up Jeep Wrangler (X009-WRA).

All told, the 2014-2015 lineup of X009 Alpine Restyle dash systems for trucks and SUV will be compatible with more than 8 million vehicles in different makes, models and years, the company said.
