Horsham, Pa. - Motorola said its SBG6580 Surfboard eXtreme wireless cable modem gateway product is now available through Best Buy and BestBuy.com at a $150 suggested retail.

This gateway device follows the Motorola SB6120 Surfboard eXtreme cable modem, introduced last year.

The SBG6580 is said to be eco-friendly, easy to use and fast, in addition to providing access to secure, high-bandwidth home-networking capabilities.

 The unit combines a Surfboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme cable modem, an 802.11n wireless access point and a Gigabit Ethernet four-port switch with an advanced firewall.

The all-in-one device eliminates the need for stand-alone routers, hubs and access points, and offers easy setup without the need for tech support, Motorola said.

It offers plug-and-play installation, has a Wi-Fi pairing button for easy and secure Wi-Fi protected setup, supports standard Internet browsers and is equipped for simplified troubleshooting.
