Northfield, N.J. - David Schwartz, acting executive director of Mobile Electronics Specialists of America (MESA), will leave the group in May and will focus until then on developing new retailer members and vendor members, the association announced.

An executive director will be announced in the coming weeks.

"David Schwartz was a tremendous help and a great asset to the board of directors of MESA," said Mike Cofield, MESA president and president of the Austin, Texas-based Custom Sounds chain. "We thank him for his work as we formed the group."

MESA, owned by independent 12-volt dealers, was founded in November 2009 as a marketing and selling group that pools members' expertise, creates marketing materials for members, develops dealer-branded literature, and obtains training, marketing and promotion commitments from vendor members. Dealer members also step up their commitment to vendor partners and get the opportunity to take advantage of vendor specials.

Vendor members already include Alpine, ATrend, Directed Electronics, Hertz/Audison, HushMat, Ixos, JL Audio, Kenwood, Metra, Rockford Fosgate and USA Spec.
