Benton Harbor, Mich. — Whirlpool’s Maytag brand has introduced a mid-range-priced dishwasher featuring its SteamClean option.

Available in stores at a suggested retail of $599, the dishwasher is being touted by the company as “the most moderately priced steam-option dishwasher on the market.”

Maytag has introduced its lowest-priced dishwasher featuring its SteamClean option at $599.

The company first introduced its steam option in dishwashers about a year ago, but at a higher price. The $599 model is just one of several steam offerings from Whirlpool, but the company said its new, lower-priced version is part of a move to meet the needs of a broader range of customers.

Maytag’s SteamClean option is said to add 24 minutes to the end of the wash cycle, during which the dishes are “inundated with high-temperature steam” to loosen soils from glassware. The cycle is said to end with a 154-degree Fahrenheit rinse.

The new dishwasher features a stainless-steel tub interior, a Jetclean II Power Module and heavy-duty DuraGuard nylon racks. It is also Energy Star qualified.
