Lawrence, Kan. - MartinLogan
expanded its Motion Series selection of speakers to include a high-performance bookshelf
model at a suggested $799/pair.

The Motion LX16 speaker features
MartinLogan's thin-film Folded Motion tweeter, a 5.25-inch high-excursion
woofer and low-turbulence rear-firing bass port. Each speaker features wood-wrapped
cabinet with a hand-rubbed, high-gloss piano black or black cherrywood finish.
A perforated steel grille appears
to float in front of the speaker, constructed from 0.75-inch-thick MDF
cabinets. A solid, black-anodized brushed-aluminum baffle sits flush with the
cabinet.
In its Motion series, the company
already offers two bookshelf-like speakers, the Motion 2 at $199/each or $400/pair
and the Motion 4 at $249 each or $500/pair. Neither is in the high-performance
category, a spokesman said, and although they can be used as bookshelf
speakers, the Motion 2 and 4 lack a traditional bookshelf form factor because
of their curved backs. They're considered by the company as a compact
home theater or desktop speaker, the spokesman noted.
The company will give away a pair of the
Motion LX16 speakers at each stop on its ongoing
Truth in Sound Tour,
at which the company
is demonstrating its electrostatic line source CLX Art at participating dealers.
