zones to emerging economies -- to produce a series of multimedia documentaries

innovative approaches to combat this disease.
According to the event coordinators, malnutrition kills nearly 4
million children every year -- one every six seconds. It condemns hundreds of
millions of others lacking the required essential nutrients in their diets to a
life marked by physical stunting, mental impairment and increased
susceptibility to disease. The program
supporters said all of the suffering is needless, because unlike myriad other
maladies, malnutrition is preventable and treatable.
The program will seamlessly blend photography and video produced
by some of the most prolific and award-winning photojournalists, "Starved for
Attention" captures a new visual identity for malnutrition through frontline
stories from Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti,
India, Mexico and the United States.
A gallery of the images taken will be displayed June 4 through
July 2 at the VII Gallery, 28 Jay Street, Brooklyn, N.Y. It is two blocks west
of the York Street station on the F train, and is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.,
