NEW YORK — Haier America will begin shipping
its first front-load laundry line for the U.S.
market this month.
The competitively priced platform consists of
two models, the opening-price HWF5000AW
and the step-up HWF5300AW, priced to hit
suggested retails of $640 and $799, respectively.
Both feature a smooth-edged modern
chassis design with a large front glass window
and easy-grip door handle, have 4.3 cubic feet
of capacity, and are Energy Star rated.
Other features include an angled Touch
Sense touchscreen control panel that provides
easy operation, viewing and reach. The smooth
control surface is easy to clean, Haier noted,
and wash cycles are clearly displayed with LED
lights that indicate the cycle’s progress.
The entry-level model has 10 wash cycles
and a maximum spin speed of 1,000 rpm,
while the step-up model boasts a stainless-steel drum
with a top spin speed of 1,300 rpm, and 12 wash cycles
including a Green setting that, when used with cold water
and Tide HE Coldwater detergent, provides up to 80
percent in energy savings over a top-load warm wash
without sacrificing performance, the company said.
Companion dryers are available in electric or gas configurations
and feature a 7.7-cubic-foot drum, 10 programmable
dry cycles, and sensor technology that monitors
the laundry load to prevent fibers from over-drying, which
extends clothing life. Like the washers, the dryers offer
Touch Sense controls and an angled, easy-to-clean control
panel, in addition to a shoe drying rack.
“Haier America is committed to saving consumers
money with energy-efficient products that provide premium
features at a non-premium price point,” said Matt
Sekelick, Haier America’s major appliances product marketing
senior VP. “With the addition of front-load laundry,
we now offer our retail partners an attractive full line of
Haier laundry products that fit specific needs and options
