LG, Best Buy & Rachael Ray Want To ‘Flip Your Fridge’

LG and Best Buy are once again teaming up for the Earth-friendly “Flip Your Fridge” campaign, meant to motivate consumers to recycle old refrigerators and upgrade with new Energy Star-certified ones.

While last year’s program was announced on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” this year’s campaign and sweepstakes got its start with Racahel Ray.

The “Rachael Ray Earth Day LG Refrigerator Giveaway” will give consumers a chance to win LG’s new black stainless-steel refrigerator ($4,619 retail value). Best Buy’s Geek Squad will deliver the new fridges, as well as haul away and recycle the old ones. Three studio audience members singled out for providing Earth Day “green tips” will also flip their fridges courtesy of LG and Best Buy.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, (EPA), if all refrigerators 15 years or older in the U.S. were replaced with Energy Star-certified models, Americans would save more than $1 billion in annual energy costs and prevent more than 13 billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions annually, said to be equivalent to the emissions from more than a million vehicles.
