Climatic Adds Smeg Kitchen Suite To Appliance Roster

National appliance distributor Climatic Home Products has added Italy’s Smeg line of premium kitchen majaps to its white-goods offering.

The distribution partnership covers a dozen Southeastern states including Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

Under the agreement, Climatic will carry Smeg’s full kitchen suite, spanning its commercial-look prostyle, and distinctive retro-look, European-style appliances. These include 24-, 30-, 36- and 48-inch ranges and cooktops; wall ovens; and refrigeration and ventilation products.

The distribution pact coincides with Smeg’s U.S. introduction of its first induction cooktops: a 30-inch, four cook-zone model with a power range of 1,200W- 4,100W (suggested retail $1,499), and a 36-inch, five cook-zone iteration with a range of 1,200W-5,400W (suggested retail $1,999). Both are crafted from black ceramic glass and feature automatic pan detection and touch-control sliders.

Smeg is an Italian acronym for “metal enameling plant from Guastalla, Emilia,” a region in Northern Italy. It was founded in 1948 by a member of the famed Bertazzoni majap manufacturing family, and today operates 17 subsidiaries in the U.S. and Europe.

It joins a brand roster at Climatic that includes the Broan, Danby, Electrolux, Frigidaire, Haier, Premier, Samsung and Sharp appliance lines.

“Smeg is a premium appliance brand that addresses many of the opportunities that the dealer channel faces daily,” said Climatic Home Products president Doug Allen. “Their products are well-crafted and unique, which many consumers desire.

“We’re excited to add Smeg to the ‘basket of goods’ that we offer,” he added. “Smeg’s level of craftsmanship and detail, as well as their distinct style, will flourish in the independent dealer channel.”

The new distribution partnership follows the addition of Broan to its line card late last year.
