New York - iPhone
and iPads will finally stream web video in the Adobe Flash format, thanks to an
app appearing on Thursday in Apple's App Store,
CNN
Money reported.
Apple said it doesn't
support Adobe Flash in the iPhone and iPad because the technology drains
batteries too quickly and doesn't perform well on mobile devices, but the new
$2.99 app from Skyfire gets around the restriction by using Skyfire servers to
translate the video into HTML5, which is supported by the Apple devices.
Skyfire offers a similar app for Android
smartphones. Flash viewing is possible without the app on Android phones using
the Android 2.2 OS.
