Fire TV Gets Sling TV Service

Seattle – Amazon added Dish’s Sling TV Internet-based TV app to the selection of apps and games available through the $99 Fire TV settop box and $39 Fire TV Stick.

Sling TV and other recent additions expand the selection of apps and games for the Fire TV settop box to 1,067, up five times since last April, the company said. The number of apps and games for the Fire TV Stick, launched in November 2014, hits 867.

To promote Sling TV availability, Amazon is offering a free Fire TV Stick or $50 off the normal price of a Fire TV settop to consumers who buy three months of Sling TV, which starts at $20/month.

Sling TV delivers live sports and entertainment from such channels as ESPN, TNT and TBS.

Other streaming services available through the Internet-connected devices include Amazon Prime Instant Video, Netflix, hulu plus, iHeart Radio, HBO Go, PBS Kids, Showtime Anytime, Plex, A&E, Spotify, WatchESPN, and Crackle.

Other recent additions to Fire TV and Fire TV Stick are FOX Sports GO, TED, CBS News, and Crossy Road, all within the last month. Game of Thrones – A Telltale Games Series was added in December

Apps and games that launched exclusively on the Fire platform include FOX Sports GO, Flappy Birds Family, Game of Thrones – A Telltale Games Series, and Minecraft Pocket Edition.
