CEA Launches Vehicle Intelligence Marketplace At CES

Arlington, Va. — The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) will launch its Vehicle Intelligence Marketplace at the 2015 International CES.

CES, which is produced by CEA, will be held Jan. 6-9, 2015, in Las Vegas.

The Vehicle Intelligence Marketplace will be located at CES Tech East in the North Plaza of the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center (LVCC). CES Tech East includes the LVCC, Westgate Las Vegas, and Renaissance Las Vegas. The Marketplace will feature autonomous-driving, collision-avoidance and vehicle-communication technologies. CEA said exhibitors in the area will conduct track demonstrations within the parking lot as well as on-the-road demos.

Eleven automotive manufacturers will exhibit at CES: Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Ford, GM, Hyundai, Mazda, Mercedes, MINI, Toyota and Volkswagen. Automotive exhibits will cover more than 165,000 net square feet of exhibit space, up 17 percent over the 2014 show.

“As the car has become more connected, we have seen the popularity of in-vehicle technologies increase as well. We created the Vehicle Intelligence Marketplace to showcase advanced innovations and how these technologies are making the driving experience safer,” said Gary Shapiro, CEA president and CEO. “The continued growth of the automotive category at CES parallels the rapid evolution of in-vehicle technologies. From connectivity to autonomous driving technologies to other rapidly evolving innovations, consumers today view in-vehicle technology as an important factor in their buying decisions.”

CES keynotes and conference sessions focused on automotive electronics include:

Keynotes:

* Dieter Zetsche, chairman of the board of management of Daimler AG and head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, will discuss autonomous-vehicle technology and its impact on society, mobility and the environment. His address is slated for 8 p.m., Jan. 5, at the Chelsea Theater within the Cosmopolitan.

* Mark Fields, Ford president/CEO, will provide insights on the future of mobility and the latest in-vehicle innovations. His keynote address immediately follows Shapiro’s state of the industry address, which begins 8:30 a.m., Jan. 6, in the Venetian’s Palazzo Ballroom.

Conference Sessions:

* Beyond the Connected Car: Transforming Personal Mobility

“With the world’s population growing and becoming more urbanized, the century-old model of the car as the primary means of personal transportation will eventually prove unsustainable. Technology driven solutions are emerging to move the masses more efficiently and safely.”

* Eye on Automotive Technology

“From self-parking cars, gesture-controlled infotainment systems to head-up displays that augment reality, car technology is advancing so quickly that it’s hard to imagine what’s next. Industry insiders offer a glimpse of what’s coming down the pike in 2015 and beyond.”

* Drive Safely with the CE Industry

“Technology has dramatically improved the driving experience. Yet some drivers find it difficult to use modern technology responsibly, taking their eyes off the road when using electronic devices. We will look at industry initiatives to make everyone safer on the road.”

* Connect2Car

“The Connect2car experience fills the consumer data gaps with innovative opportunities to capitalize on the power of ‘Big Data.’ Industry experts offer insights and new ideas for the automotive industry to understand and profit from in the connected car experience.

* Collaboration: Protecting Connected Vehicles within the IoT?

“Panel members discuss connected-car vulnerability and the critical need to address core cyber-security issues well before the point of exponential attack growth. Learn what initiatives automotive OEMs and options suppliers are taking to keep vehicles and passengers safe.”

The 2015 CES will feature 20 category-specific Marketplaces highlighting innovation across diverse product areas. Companies interested in exhibiting in the Vehicle Intelligence Marketplace should contact Shari Sally at [email protected].
