LG Among Tech Firms Supporting White House’s ‘Joining Forces’ Veterans Initiative

LG Electronics USA today pledged its support for Joining Forces, the nationwide veteran’s assistance initiative launched by first lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden.

The White House effort calls on all Americans to rally around service members, veterans, and their families and support them through wellness, education, and employment opportunities.

LG’s support for Joining Forces was recognized in a ceremony today at the White House along with other companies making new commitments to hire or train veterans and military spouses. LG is among a select group of technology companies pledging to recruit U.S. military veterans and military/veteran spouses for up to 10 percent of new hires over the next five years.

“Every day, we see first-hand the commitment, skills and values that veterans bring to the tech sector,” said William Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics USA. In the U.S., LG employees include military veterans and spouses who have served in Afghanistan, Iraq, the Gulf Wars, Vietnam, on embassy duty and at bases across the country and around the world.

Joining Forces works hand in hand with companies like LG to ensure that service members, veterans and their families have the tools they need to succeed throughout their lives. “LG is honored to be invited to participate in this important initiative and to further increase our recruitment efforts for veterans and their spouses,” said Diana Sacchi, LG’s human resources VP.

The initiative’s mission statement reads: “Bringing attention to the unique needs and strengths of America’s military families, Joining Forces inspires, educates, and encourages concrete action from all sectors of society to ensure that service members, veterans, and their families have the opportunities, resources and support they have earned; showcases the skills, experience and dedication of America’s service members, veterans, and their families to strengthen the nation’s communities; and encourages greater connections between the American public and the U.S. military.”
