Galaxy NX Camera Priced At $1,600

Ridgefield Park, N.J. – Samsung this week set suggested retail pricing at $1,600 for the body only on its Galaxy NX Smart camera.

Samsung’s first connected compact system camera (CSC), Galaxy NX will also be available as a bundle with an 18-55mm lens for $1,700, the company said.

Both configurations will hit U.S. stores in October and offer Wi-Fi wireless connectivity and support for 3G/4G LTE connectivity. The camera will be available across all retail channels, and not just wireless service carrier stores.

The Galaxy NX combines a compact interchangeable lens camera with a variety of applications based on the Android eco-system.

“Photographers today live mobile lifestyles and they demand tools that allow them to share their work – in stunning detail – instantly,” said Ron Gazzola, Samsung digital imaging marketing VP. “The Galaxy NX camera represents the pinnacle of technology convergence in our 2013 Smart camera line, successfully marrying the benefits of our Galaxy Camera with the imaging prowess of the award-winning NX interchangeable lens Smart cameras.”

The camera features a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor, DRIMe IV Image Signal Processor, advanced hybrid auto focus (AF) system, 1/6,000-second shutter speed and 8.6fps burst shooting.

A Photo Suggest feature provides location-based recommendations of popular photography spots, sourced from a huge library of images taken by professional photographers.

Story Album displays special moments on one timeline, reframing and resizing them to create digital photo books that can be sent to other devices.

The Galaxy NX has 30 Smart Modes to help find the optimum settings for almost any scenario.

Multi Exposure merges two different shots together to produce one image, while ‘Animated Photo’ connects continuous shots of up to five seconds, creating a moving GIF file.
