addition of 4G LTE and a faster processor to its latest Droid Incredible for
Both phones use the Android 4.0
The new Incredible offers a
4-inch display, 8-megapixel rear camera, and mobile hot spot like its 3G
Android predecessor but adds 4G LTE and dual-core 1.2GHz processor, replacing a
single-core 1GHz processor. It also upgrades the OS to Android 4.0 and features
the latest generation of HTC's Sense user interface, Sense 4.0.
Other enhancements include the
extension of Beats Audio audio-enhancement technology beyond phone-stored music
to all music and audio applications, including Internet radio apps, games and
YouTube. The new model also adds the ability to simultaneously shoot HD video
and capture photos, and it gets Nearfield Communications (NFC), which can be
used with Android Beam to share Web pages, apps, contacts and YouTube videos by
tapping two compatible phones together.
The Droid Incredible 4G LTE will
be available to Verizon subscribers in the coming weeks at a price that wasn't
announced. Verizon already offers 23 4G LTE devices, including smartphones, USB
modems and mobile hot spots.
Other Incredible features include
LED flash, BSI, f/2.2 and 28mm lens slot for the 8-megapixel rear camera,
front-facing camera for video chats, slot for 32GB MicroSD memory cards, and
mobile hotspot capability to share 4G LTE connection with up to 10
For its part, the HTC One V is
positioned as having "broad appeal" and will be available this summer through a
variety of U.S. carriers. Earlier this year, the company said it would be
available from C-Spire, Cincinnati Bell, MetroPCS, U.S. Cellular and Virgin
The One V features a 3.7-inch
screen, 1GHz processor, aluminum unibody, HTC Sense 4 user interface, and a
suite of upgraded camera capabilities that are also included in the step-up One
X and One S.
The capabilities of the phone's
5-megapixel camera include f/2.0 back-illuminated sensor to improve picture
capture in such conditions as low light, no light or bright backlighting.
Stepped-up features also include ability to capture photos while simultaneously
recording HD video and capturing still photos during video playback.
Other stepped-up camera features are
Superfast Capture, which reduces the time to take a picture to 0.7 seconds.
Fast 0.2-second autofocus lets users take continuous shots by holding the
shutter button. High dynamic range (HDR) technology improves contrast in
captured photos. HDR takes multiple photos of a subject in rapid succession,
each with a different exposure level, then layers the images to create a single
photo that combines the best parts of each image to deliver a more accurate
range of light.
The camera also features
autoburst, a feature that automatically takes a burst of shots of a subject if
the subject moves while the user is pressing the shutter button.
Like the new Incredible, One X
and One S, the One V applies Beats Audio technology to all music applications.
