Taoyuan, Taiwan - Smartphone maker HTC posted a 68 percent gain in unaudited third-quarter net profit to NT$18.64 billion ($608 million) on a sales gain of 79 percent to NT$135.82 billion ($4.43 billion).

 The quarter ended Sept. 30.

 The gains follow a 128 percent gain in first-half revenue to NT$223.7 billion ($7.3 billion) and a 137 percent first-half gain in net profits to NT$32.4 billion ($1.06 billion).

 The dollar figures are based on a conversion rate of $1 to NT$30.65.
