Revolv Takes A Whirl With Nest Detectors, Danalock

Boulder, Colo. – Revolv, the home-automation hub supplier, has added compatibility with the Nest Protect CO/smoke detector and launched a new UI for the Nest Learning thermostat.

The company also added control of Poly Control’s retrofit door lock with Bluetooth and Z-Wave to its user interface on iOS and Android apps.

The hub connects to home systems via Wi-Fi, Z-Wave or Insteon technology to control almost 100 home-automation devices, such as light switches from Belkin, Cooper, GE, Insteon and Leviton; in-wall light dimmers and wall-plug lamp dimmers from GE, Insteon and Leviton; LED lights from Philips Hue and Leviton; wall-plug outlets from Belkin; in-wall power outlets from GE and Leviton; motion sensors from Belkin and Insteon; Somfy shade controllers, and locks from Kwikset, Schlage and Yale. The hub also controls most functions of Sonos wireless multiroom-audio systems.

Through its participation in the Nest developer program, Revolv developed a new UI not just for Nest thermostats but for all compatible thermostats, the company said. “We’ve made it easier to see and edit your heating and cooling temperatures, in addition to giving you a great menu of settings for additional comfort options,” the company said. For the Nest thermostat, the UI adds auto-away functionality “to tie into any action or be triggered manually right from your device,” the company said.

With the addition of Nest Protect detector compatibility, users will be able to check on the state of the detectors from anywhere by glancing at the dashboard on their iOS and Android apps.

Revolv has also added the Danalock, a retro-fit door lock from Poly Control, which will be available later this month. The lock will be Revolv’s first retro-fit lock, which doesn’t require users to replace their entire door lock but only the dead bolt’s thumb turn on the inside of the door.

Revolv’s hub is available at Revolv.com, Amazon, Smarthome.com, HomeDepot.com, and select Home Depot stores. The company recently set up a reseller program for integrators, unveiling it at the CEDIA Expo.

“Our go-to-market strategy was to first focus on building our retail channels to quickly establish brand awareness with consumers,” said Mike Dee, head of sales. “We can now focus our attention on expanding our reach to the installer community through the official launch of out official Revolv resellers program.”
