Fremont, Calif. — Oplink, a supplier of telecom-infrastructure components, entered the CE market early this year with two do-it-yourself security systems, and now it’s expanding its consumer portfolio with over-the-counter home-automation products and emergency-alert systems.
The $200 million company plans July shipments of Wi-Fi-connected WiseHome home-automation products and two Connected Care emergency-alert systems.
The Wise Home products include a Wi-Fi hub, three-in-one magnetic/temperature/motion sensor, a smoke/CO sensor, two-way communications camera, a pan/tilt security camera, smart power plug, garage-door interface, medical-alert remote, in-home siren, and other gear.
Optional Z-Wave and 433MHz dongles plug into the Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n hub to add control of Z-Wave and 433MHz products, such as garage door openers.
The WiseHome products are auto-pairing and require no configuration, said Oplink founder/CEO Joe Liu.
Connected components are controlled on site and remotely from Android, iOS and Windows Phone apps. The apps also display live security-camera video, and the hub stores security-camera video on an included 16GB USB stick.
Excluding the hub, individual product prices range from a suggested $29 to $139. Separate hub pricing was unavailable, but some products are bundled with the hub at $99.
The company also plans July shipments of two Oplink Connected Care emergency-alert systems at $239 and $149.
The company’s two security products — Triple Shield and Alarm Shield — are available through Fry’s online and brick-and-mortar stores; Amazon.com and Walmart.com; and other online stores through distributors Ingram Micro, D&H and Navarre, said Oplink founder/CEO Joe Liu.
The WiseHome apps monitor and control eight locations from mobile devices owned by six family members, who can also view live security camera video, with no subscription charge if the system includes up to 12 sensors and up to two cameras. Three tiers of paid service start at $19.99/month to remotely monitor additional sensors and cameras, and retrieve security-camera video remotely.
