Monster Gets More Inspired

Brisbane, Calif. — Monster expanded its Inspiration headphones line with the addition of an on-ear model, known as the Inspiration Lite.

Priced at a suggested $269, the Lite headphones feature interchangeable headbands, passive noise isolation and dual 3.5mm inputs for music sharing. As of this writing, there were nearly 40 different headbands available on Monster’s site, with prices ranging from $24.95 to $39.95. The same headband can be used for both the on- and the over-ear models.

The Inspiration Lite ship with three cables: one with iOS-compatible in-line mic and remote, one with Android-compatible, and one for use on airplanes.

Monster noted it would include a free PowerCard portable battery with each purchase for a limited time.

Monster isn’t the only manufacturer of swappable headphones. Kevin Lee, son of Monster founder Noel Lee, is CEO of SOL Republic, which also designs headphones with interchangeable bands. SOL, a company that prides itself on its strong grassroots fanbase, launched a marketing campaign earlier this month called “Music Made Me Do It (#MMMDI).”

Its brand ambassadors, known as SOLdiers and Saviors of Sound, will share stories via social media about how music has changed their lives. The campaign will also feature digital and social media and PR, events, and retail activations, among other efforts, the company said.
