Headphones Manufacturers Storm Into The New Year With Product Introductions

NEW YORK —

Headphones started off the
new year strongly with a slew of product
introductions and upgrades at a vast
range of price points.

TWICE has rounded up some of the
newest products being announced,
some of which are being shown at
International CES, being held in Las
Vegas this week.

Able Planet will be introducing its
new Signature series of headphones
with their sponsored pro athletes.
Athletes include Ashley Fiolek, pro
motocross racer; Chris “Birdman” Andersen
of the NBA; Jesse Heilman, a pro
surfer.

The noise-canceling headphones will
feature the company’s Linx audio technology
as well as in-line volume control. Frequency
response is listed at 20Hz to 20,000Hz. The headphones
come with a carrying pouch. Pricing and availability
wasn’t given at press time.

Able Planet

will also be launching a line of camothemed
headphones meant for gamers, but more details
weren’t available at press time.

Audio-Technica

is showing at CES its in-ear ATHANC23
QuietPoint active noise-canceling (ANC) headphones.
Suggested retail is $99.95. They are offered in a
range of colors, including black, white and red, and come
with Comply ear tips and in-line microphone.

They will be available in February.

iLuv

is launching two new earphones. The iEP525 earphones
come with a remote and microphone. They come
with a built-in high-performance driver for high note precision
and vibrating woofer driver for strong bass, the company
said.

The second model, the iEP526, is designed for smartphones
and comes with an included audio and mic splitter
cable that enables use for VoIP calls.
They come with large, medium and
small ear tips.

JVC

is launching several
headphones in its XX series,
including the HA-MX5, an
around-the-ear headphone
with 50mm neodymium drivers
and bass ports. Features
consist of rubber protector
for durability, memory-foam
ear pads, 3mm-thick 1.2m
OFC cable (Y-type), and goldplated
3.5mm stereo straight
plug. They will be available for
$49.95.

The HA-S4X on-the-ear
headband headphones have
4 0 m m neodymium drivers and bass
ports and similar features as the HA-MX5. Suggested retail
is $39.95.

The HA-FX1X are in-ear headphones with 10mm drivers
and bass ports. They have an angled design and three
sizes of silicone ear pieces. A carrying pouch is included.
They will retail for $29.95.

All will be available in March.

Mizco

will be showing its Monster Buds ear bud line at
CES. Currently available, the line retails for a suggested
$9.99 and is available in five colors. Each headset’s monster
character is able to slide up and down and serves as
the set’s cord-management system. Monster Buds come
with two extra ear cushions, a carry pouch and a clip.

Monster

said it would be adding to its line of Miles
Davis in-ear headphones with the addition of the Miles Davis
Trumpet version. Few details were available at press
time other than that they would contain what the company
called “the world’s smallest driver.” Pricing and availability
weren’t given.

Wicked Audio

said it has upgraded three lines of its
headphones to now include a built-in microphone.
The Tour,
Jaw Breakers
and Metallics
will retail
for respective
suggested
retails
of $24.99,
$14.99 and
$19.99.
