Cleer Readies Two-Way Bluetooth Headphones

Cleer will go to next month’s CES to introduce what it calls the industry’s first Bluetooth headphone with two-way driver design.

The dual-driver design assigns one driver in each earcup for reproducing mid and high frequencies and a second driver for reproducing bass frequencies.

The DU Wireless is the company’s first two-way headphone and the first two-way Bluetooth headphone targeted to audiophiles, said marketing VP Amber Bobin. Two-way headphones are common in the gaming industry, she noted.

Pricing and ship date were unavailable.

The headphone features AAC/AptX Ver. 4.0 streaming over Bluetooth to enhance sound quality compared with the Bluetooth audio codec. NFC is included for Bluetooth pairing. Other features include 40mm neodymium drivers, built-in quick-charge rechargeable lithium battery that delivers up to 20 hours of playback time, and the ability to connect to an audio source via cable if the battery is low.

The headphones have been designed to deliver consistent bass response regardless of volume setting, Cleer added, noting that the human ear hears less bass at low volume levels than at high sound levels.
