Bose Grows SoundLink Line

Framingham, Mass. — Bose expanded its SoundLink line with the addition of a portable Bluetooth speaker and its first on-ear Bluetooth headphones.

The SoundLink Color Bluetooth portable speaker is pocket-sized, measuring 5 inches wide by 2.1 inches deep by 5.3 inches high and weighing just 1.25 pounds. It has dual-opposing passive radiators with two transducers, voice prompts for pairing, a 3.5mm aux input, and the ability to remember the last eight devices it paired with.

The lithium-ion battery provides eight hours of play time, and it can fully recharge in three hours, said Bose.

The speaker, which has a $129 suggested retail, comes in black, white, blue, red and mint. It will be available Sept. 25.

The new SoundLink headphones, Bose’s first on-ear Bluetooth model, feature the company’s Active Equalization and TriPort technology, meant to provide smoother and more balanced sound. A two-microphone system rejects ambient sounds such as wind, while Adaptive Audio Adjustment technology automatically changes volume based on speech level and ambient noise, Bose said.

The headphones can connect to two devices at a time and can switch between the two using on-ear controls.

They come in black or white for $249 and are currently available.

Bose also noted its AE2w Bluetooth model will be renamed the SoundLink around-ear Bluetooth headphones.
