Beats Adds Studio Wireless3 Headphones With Apple W1 Chip

Beats by Dr. Dre has updated its top-of-the-line Studio Wireless headphones, adding the Apple W1 chip and upgrading the components. It also trimmed a bit off the price tag.

The battery life of the Studio Wireless3 jumps from its predecessor’s 12 hours to 22 hours of playback time with active noise canceling (ANC); turning off the ANC increases playback to 40 hours. A quick-charge feature, termed “Fast Fuel” by Beats, provides three hours of playback with a 10-minute charge.

The W1 chip, meanwhile, also enables wearers to seamlessly switch between Apple devices in mid-use.

The Apple-owned company said it has updated the ANC technology, now better able to account and adjust for ambient noise without degrading sound quality. Other features for the over-ear headphones include on-ear controls with built-in mic, and LED fuel gauge, and a choice of six colors. Suggested retail is $349. They will ship in mid-October.

Beats introduced the first Studio Wireless headphones four years ago.
