Frankfurt, Germany - Google plans to launch an online e-bookstore called Google Editions to deliver e-books to any device with a Web browser, creating more competition in the burgeoning e-reader market, said Reuters.

Google will initially offer about a half million e-book books, it reportedly announced at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Consumers will be able to buy the e-books directly from Google or through other online stores, including Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com, said the report.
