Irvine, Calif. — Gateway will open a new production facility in Nashville, Tenn., later this year.

The factory will initially employ about 300 people with an annual payroll of $8 million. The plant will assemble configure to order desktops, notebooks, servers and storage arrays. Gateway said it will utilize and existing structure in the city, which will enable the factory to be up and running by October.

“This facility will support Gateway's professional and consumer-direct business units from an operational perspective in order to improve the entire customer experience, including quality, cost and delivery,” said Rick Snyder, Gateway's chairman/CEO.
