Seeking to keep digital camera owners from drifting off to less expensive online outlets, Fujifilm announced a new digital wholesale solution for retailers.
Called the GetPix Digital Dropbox, this freestanding unit combines a film drop box with a digital order terminal. Users can insert memory cards into the order terminal, enter their name and number and print order. Digital photos are uploaded to Fujicolor Processing, a Fujifilm subsidiary, for off-site printing with a two-day turnaround.
Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club will be the first to offer the service. Wal-Mart will price a 4-inch by 6-inch print at 15 cents, while Sam’s Club will charge 13 cents for a 4 by 6-inch print. All Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club locations will have the Digital Dropbox by November.
The Digital Dropbox supports a variety of print sizes, greeting and holiday cards, digital album CDs, T-shirts, posters, stickers, puzzles, ornaments, mousepads and mugs.
