Dearborn, Mich. - Ford said it created a downloadable
PC/Mac app to help Sync
customers transfer their mobile phone's address book to their car
The company learned from its Sync user forum at www.syncmyride.com
that customers wanted an easier way to send
phone numbers and contacts to the car radio so they may dial by voice commands,
such as "Call Mike at home" rather than voice dialing by single digits ("Dial
Ford claimed its IT developers took only 90 days to develop a
beta app that was then field tested by approximately 50 current Sync users who
had phonebook issues.
The app lets users set up phone contacts on a home PC or Mac and
upload them to the car radio via the USB port.
This avoids the time-consuming pairing of a Bluetooth phone's address
book with the car radio.
The app is available as a free download on www.syncmyride.com
Ford said a third of Sync users believe hands-free calling is one
of the most attractive features of Sync radios.
