Motorola Earnings, Sales Jump
Schaumburg, Ill. — Booming business in RAZR mobile phones helped Motorola post an 18 percent increase in consolidated sales during the fourth quarter, hitting $10.4 billion, up from a year-ago $8.8 billion.

Fairfield, Conn. — Fourth-quarter revenue in the major appliance business at GE edged upward 1 percent, with the company’s industrial segment — which includes majaps — coming in at $8.5 billion, compared with $8.4 billion in the last three months of 2004.

Samsung Sales Rise 12%, Profit Jumps 40%

Seoul, South Korea — Strong demand for flat-panel televisions and semiconducters pushed up fourth quarter sales at Samsung 12 percent, to $16.1 billion, while net profit soared 40 percent in the last three months of 2005, reaching $2.66 billion.
