Washington — XM Satellite Radio said it received a letter from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding possible irregularities with its repeater network, which supplements reception.

XM said in a filing with the Security Exchange Commission that certain aspects of its repeaters may differ from the data XM originally filed with the FCC.

XM has asked for a 30-day special temporary authority (STA) and a 180-day STA to continue to operate its entire repeater network. XM said that the FCC proceedings may result in the imposition of a fine against XM or “adverse changes in our repeater network,” which could affect service in some areas.
