Richmond, Va. —Walter E. Bruckart, a former merchandising executive VP at Circuit City, has died.

Bruckart retired from the CE chain in 1995, and was succeeded by future CEO Alan McCollough.

Bruckart joined Circuit City in 1968 as part of the retailer's West Coast merchandising team. He was promoted to his last post with the company in 1989.

No further details were immediately available.
