Santa Clarita, Calif. - Encore Automotive Systems announced that its E2 remote-start system is now shipping for $199.

Encore first entered the remote-start category over the summer, and in an interview with TWICE, hinted at the products it was planning. The E2 is geared toward users who want a remote starter but don't necessarily need car security functions, John Fernandez, executive VP, said.

The E2 has two four-button remotes that feature blue LEDs for lock, unlock, trunk/hatch release and remote start. According to the company, it has half a mile range by using 433MHz frequency and ASK long-range technology.

A two-way data port for connection to plug-and play interfaces from iDataLink is included. Other features include five onboard relays, Molex connectors, dual-polarity lock wires and factory alarm-control connections.
