Tech Data Realigns Business Groups

Clearwater, Fla. — Global tech distributor Tech Data has merged its mobility solutions and retail division, freeing up its supply-chain unit to focus on logistics.

Heading the newly created division is Patrick Stokes, who joined the company last summer as mobile solutions VP. He previously served as president/COO of mobile distributor Brightstar, and had held senior-level roles in sales, distribution and mergers-and-acquisitions at mobile carriers Verizon and Sprint.

The new unit will be supported by the distributor’s consumer technology sales team, which had previously been attached to Tech Data’s integrated supply chain solutions unit (ISCS).

As part of the realignment, Shaun Sinden, formerly VP of consumer technology and integrated supply-chain services, has been promoted to VP/general manager of ISCS, where he will focus on expanding supply-chain initiatives.

“Combining our mobile and retail businesses under dedicated leadership and placing a laser focus on our supply-chain initiatives is a natural evolution that better aligns our resources with the market landscape,” said Tech Data Americas president Joe Quaglia. “These organizational changes, designed to better serve our vendor partners, solution providers and retail partners while accelerating our growth in these important segments, will provide a heightened focus on each market with a clearer alignment for our channel partners.”
