Easy Access Distribution Puts Spotlight On Light Commercial Market

Massachusetts-based tech distributor Easy Access brought home its message of untapped opportunities in light commercial A/V last month during its 17th Annual Easy Access Expo.

The event, held at the Courtyard by Marriott in Billerica, Mass., drew over 200 dealer and integrators for one-on-one opportunities with more than 40 vendors including Atlona; RTI Commercial; Soundtube; Russound Commercial; Catalyst AV Wire and Cable; Rapid Video Mounts; Lyric Speakers; Monitor Audio; Chief; DaLite; Vivitek; Luxul; Mood Music; Ice Cable Systems; and Heos for Commercial.

“We focused on light commercial as an untapped opportunity and featured education, live demonstrations and support,” said owner/president Steve Presti. “There are lucrative opportunities out there if you know what to look for in light commercial projects — doctor and dentist offices, bars, restaurants, spa/retreats, houses of worship, realty, and so forth.”

Presti, who also serves on the board of Catalyst AV, a network of 11 independent CE distributors serving the residential and pro A/V channels, said the growing need for products, services and training in light commercial resonated with attendees.

Guest speakers included Gary Kayye, founder of tech consultancy Kayye Consulting and president/CEO of rAVe pulications, who provided a primer on light commercial; Heos Americas training VP Jeff Cowan, who addressed “top-down” selling; Eero Pro head Kelly Neary, who spoke about reaching millennials; and Erica Strickland, trainer and sales engineer for Atlona Technologies, who reviewed “The Five Things You Need To Know About 4K And HDR Video” as essential elements for proper system design.

“Education is the essential ingredient in expanding your marketplace,” Presti noted. “I want dealers to understand that we are a resource for education in this category, with a commercial vision in place to help grow the market.”
