D&H Prepping Dealers On Next-Gen Computing

UPDATED!D&H Distributing, a leading IT and CE distributor, will be helping West Coast dealers and e-tailers get up to speed on the power and advanced features of the latest crop of personal computers.

Fueled by Intel’s new 6th Generation Core micro-processor chips (formerly known as Skylake) and Microsoft’s largely lauded Windows 10 operating system, this “next-generation computing” trend delivers capabilities and speeds never before possible for laptop computers and other mobile devices, the company said.

“Battery life, content creation and performance have taken a leap forward with these technologies,” noted D&H senior sales VP Jeff Davis. “We want to help the retail sector communicate this message, so they can not only profit from the sales opportunity, but speed proliferation of these new capabilities in the marketplace.”

To that end, the distributor is offering new training sessions at its upcoming West Coast Technology Show on March 10 in Industry Hills, Calif. The event offers two separate sessions, “Reach for the Sky(lake) — Innovation Update 2016!” presented by Lenovo, and “Intel Inside, No Limits Outside,” presented by Intel.

The trainings follow a standing-room only Intel seminar on the 6th Generation processors, which was held at the distributor’s Mid-Atlantic Fall Technology Show in November.

Among the benefits of the new technology, a 6th Generation Core computer boots in half a second, allowing users to rapidly resume full functionality as needed, compared to a computer that’s five years old or older, which can take up to two minutes to boot.

In addition, thanks to a 30 percent improvement in battery life, mobile users can experience up to 11 straight hours of screen-on time, delivering a continuity of power that can endure a trans-Atlantic flight.

Other benefits include improved integrated graphics, support for 4K multimedia content, enhanced security, decreased form factors and increased power optimization. Users can increase their mobility and their ability to seamlessly collaborate, while allowing the user to more easily access Cloud-based programs, create dynamic content and leverage high definition media, D&H said.
