Vista, Calif. - Directed Electronics introduced a version of its Viper SmartStar app for the Android platform.

The free app, which is also available for the BlackBerry and iPhone, enables users to control their car remotely if they have the Viper SmartStart hardware installed in their vehicle.

Features include the ability to start the engine, lock and unlock doors, arm the security system and pop the trunk. It can be downloaded from www.viper.com and the Android Market.
