Ricoh Unveils Pentax XG-1 Bridge Camera

Denver – Ricoh Imaging introduced Tuesday the Pentax XG-1 52x optical digital zoom bridge-style camera.

Ricoh’s latest advanced point-and-shoot model will ship in August at a $400 suggested retail and features a high-resolution 16-megapixel sensor and the convenience of a wide range of focal lengths in an all-in-one setup.

The XG-1’s sensor-shift-type shake-reduction system stabilizes images at longer zoom extensions, while shooting in room light, or while capturing tricky subjects like sunsets, the company said.

The XG-1 body design is light and compact, including the built-in 3-inch LCD monitor, and is based on that of Pentax SLR models.

Image capture tools include 1cm Macro mode for close-ups, high-speed continuous shooting of up to 60 images per second, and High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode to synthesize an ultra-wide-gradation image from three images taken at varying exposure levels.
