Ricoh Unveils Pentax K-S1 Mid-range DSLR

Denver – Ricoh Imaging introduced Thursday the Pentax K-S1, a new mid-range DLSR that borrows some of the features of the popular high-end Pentax K-3.

The K-S1 features new modern design styling, a 20-megapixel APS-C sensor with an ISO sensitivity range up to 51,200.

The Pentax K-S1 will be available in September at a $749.95 suggested retail price for the body only, or $799.95 for a bundle including an 18-55mm lens.

The camera also packs a sensor-based shake reduction system and up to 5.4 frames per second burst speed.

Other features include the company’s    Prime M II Image Processor, SAFOX IXi+ AFS, a 3.0-inch 921,000-dot LCD monitor, FullHD 1080/30p/25p/24p video capture, and HD 720/60p/50p capture.

The camera’s simple user interface (UI) provides immediate feedback including shooting parameters, filter selection and effect modes, even in total darkness.

The power switch, mode dial, OK button and grip all feature LED illumination for easy readability, and for current operational status indication.

“With the K-S1 we are building on our solid reputation as a camera company and inviting new customers to experience the Pentax advantage,” said Jim Malcolm, Ricoh executive VP. “Our core Pentax products provide an important foundation that the K-S1 builds upon.”

Going with its flare for color, Pentax’s K-S1 will be available in a wide variety of color options including: black, blue and white, as well as colors from a Fabric Collection and a Night Sky Collection.
