Fujifilm Issues X-Mount Lens Release Roadmap

Valhalla, N.Y. — Fujifilm president Shigehiro Nakajima issued Thursday an updated development roadmap for the release of future X-mount-series interchangeable lenses.

The lens family, which was developed to pair with Fujifilm’s mirrorless compact system camera bodies, has been well reviewed for having both high-resolution quality and durable construction.

The X-mount lens range now includes super-wide-angle to super-telephoto range lenses and a large-diameter lens affording a rich bokeh (blurred background) effect.

Featured for the first time on the development roadmap is a large-diameter medium telephoto lens (XF90mmF2.0R), which is slated for a first half 2015 arrival.

The next available lens will be the XF50-140mm F2.8 R OIS WR.

The company’s planned second weather-resistant lens, model XF18-135mm, will be designed to partner with Fuji’s X-T1 camera.

Other updates to the roadmap include the previously announced ultra-wide-angle lens being confirmed as the XF16mmF1.4 R with a guide launch date of mid-2015.

Another notable change: The launch of the XF16-55mmF2.8 WR lens moves to spring 2015 and the Super Tele-Photo Zoom lens moves to a winter 2015 release.
