Irvine, Calif. — Portable media player (PMP) maker Cowon America U.S. is the first company in the U.S. to ship a PMP incorporating a suite of audio-enhancement technologies called BBE+.
The technologies, from BBE Sound, enhance clarity and definition, extend bass response, widen the stereo image and restore harmonics lost by the compression of music.
The Cowon S9 features a titanium/black face, a curved-back casing, and a widescreen 3.3-inch Active-Matrix OLED capacitive-touchscreen display with proprietary GUI. It offers transcoding-free playback of most DVD-quality MPEG-4 videos, a TV output, stereo Bluetooth 2.0, G-sensor accelerometer to automatically rotate the display, and battery life of 11 hours for video and 55 hours for audio.

The Cowon S9 also features 500MHz dual-core processor, display capable of 16 million colors with 480x272 resolution, and support for the AVI and WMV video formats and the MP3, WMA, FLAC, OGG, WAV and APE audio formats.
