Integra To Bring Flagship AVR, AirPlay Option To Expo

9/04/2012 05:54:10 AM Eastern

Indianapolis – Integra is going to the CEDIA Expo with its first A/V receiver capable of delivering a full 11.1-channel DTS Neo:X surround-sound experience.

The brand will also show an Apple-certified iPod/iPhone/iPad 30-pin dock/stand that connects to Integra AVRs to add Wi-Fi and Apple AirPlay to the AVRs. It’s the brand’s first such dock.

The new AVR is the networked 9.2-channel DTR-70.4, a $2,800-suggested THX Ultra2 Plus certified model that is shipping. Like the brand’s four other AVRs, it features MHL (Mobile High-definition Link) port that’s compatible with Roku’s Streaming Stick to stream audio and video content.

The brand’s other AVRs are the $600 DTR-20.4, $900 DTR-30.4, $1,200 DTR-40.4, and $1,600 DTR-50.4, all of which feature networking capabilities.

With the launch of the top-end DTR-70.4 AVR, Integra is offering one of the world's first AVRs to implement the full capabilities of DTS Neo:X post-processing technology, providing every Neo:X surround option up to 11.1 channels, the company said. That includes the addition of a pair of front-height and pair of front-wide channels to a 7.1-channel system. Though the AVR’s internal amps power only nine channels, consumers can add on a two-channel amp to deliver 11 channels of sound.

Integra also offers a 7.2-channel AVR with DTS Neo:X, and that model, the $1,600 DTR-50.4, delivers Neo:X options up to nine channels with the addition of a two-channel amp.

Compared to the DTR- 50.4, the DTS-70.4 offers embedded 9.2-channel capability compared to a 7.2 channels, THX Ultra 2 Plus certification compared to THX Select2 Plus certification, four powered zones compared to three powered zones, Zone 2 HDMI output compared to Zone 2 composite-video output, HD Radio, and slightly more powerful amp at 9x140 watts into 8 ohms from 20Hz-20kHz at 0.05 percent THD.

Features common to both AVRs include ISF-certified video calibration controls, 3D-capable HDMI 1.4a inputs and outputs, 4K2K upscaling, Dolby Pro Logic IIz post processing to add a pair of front-height channels to a t 5.1- or 7.1-speaker setup, and Audyssey DSX post processing to add a pair of front-height speakers and a pair of image-widening left-right speakers to traditional 5.1-speaker setups. Both also feature DLNA 1.5 networking, Windows 7 compatibility, and built-in Internet radio apps, including vTuner, Aupeo!, last.fm, Pandora, SiriusXM Internet radio, Slacker, Spotify, and Rhapsody.

Other key features of both include iPod/iPhone-certified USB port, optional USB Wi-Fi and USB Bluetooth dongles, Audyssey's top-end MultEQ XT32 room-correction technology, Silicon Image’s InstaPrevue, and Mobile High-definition Link (MHL).

InstaPrevue, a type of picture-in-picture for HDMI sources, delivers live picture-in-picture thumbnail previews of video sources connected via HDMI inputs and MHL-enabled HDMI inputs, including MHL-enabled tablets and smartphones.

MHL-enabled HDMI inputs enable MHL-compatible smartphones and tablets to stream 1080p HD video and 7.1-channel surround sound from the mobile device via cable to a home theater system. The AVRs’ HDMI port also charges the portable device, and consumers can use their AVR remote to control the playback of content streamed from their mobile device.

In other audio products, the brand is showing the new DMI-40.4 Dock for iPod/iPhone/iPad with Airplay, built-in WiFi, and compatibility with Crestron eControl and AMX Duet home-control systems. The DMI-40.4 features RI port to add Airplay and Wi-Fi to all RI-equipped Integra AVRs. All Integra AVRs going back some years feature an RI port. The dock also features composite video output.

Also new is the $350 ADM-20.4, a 2x75-watt power amplifier that can be used with the DTR-70.4 AVR to deliver 11.1-channel surround. The amp can also be used to power remote zones when used with AVRs with remote-zone preamp outputs.
