Toronto — Anthem Electronics has begun shipping its latest two A/V receivers (AVRs), both of which are its first with 4K pass-through and up-scaling, dual simultaneous HDMI outputs, and new version of Anthem Room Correction (ARC) technology.
Both seven-channel AVRs also expand the number of HDMI inputs to seven from their predecessors’ five, and they add the capability to biamp left-front and right-front speakers in a 5.1-speaker setup.
With next-generation ARC, the time to analyze room acoustics and make corrections takes one-fourth of the time, or six minutes, compared with the previous-generation technology, the company said.
The $1,999-everyday MRX 710 and $1,599-everyday MRX 510 will be followed in January by the $1,199 MRX 310. All are positioned as affordable high-end AVRs.
The five-channel MRX 310 also gets 4K passthrough and up-scaling, dual simultaneous HDMI outputs, and new version of ARC, a spokesperson said.
Compared to their predecessors, the MRX 710 and 510 also add HDMI Audio Return channel, faster HDMI switching, up to 20 input configurations, software updates via USB, IP control with plans for remote-control iOS and Android apps, larger easier-to-read onscreen menus, speaker crossover adjustable in 10Hz increments, and optical, coaxial and analog inputs that send two-channel music to zone 2.
Like before, both models offer 1080p24 mode, Dolby Volume, 3D support, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus decoding, DTS-HD Master Audio and High Resolution Audio decoding, DTS Neo:6, and more.
The MRX710 is rated at 90 watts per channel continuous with five channels driven into 8 ohms with 0.1 percent THD and frequency response of 20Hz to 20klHz. The MRX 510 is rated at 75 watts per channel with five channels driven, and the MRX 310 is rated at 60 watts per channel with five channels driven.
