Richmond, Va. - A new documentary chronicling the rise and fall
of Circuit City premiered last night in the defunct chain's home town.
"A Tale of Two Cities: The Circuit City Story" follows the
60-year history of what was once the world's largest CE specialty retailer.
The film was introduced by former CEO Alan Wurtzel, whose father
Sam founded the company, local CBS affiliate WTVR reported.
Wurtzel appears in the documentary, along with CarMax co-founder
Austin Ligon, former Circuit City executives and sales associates, and faculty
from the University of Richmond.
The chain
entered
Chapter 11 bankruptcy two years ago amid heavy losses and cash and credit
constraints, and
shut
its doors after a months-long liquidation sale in March 2009.
