LG To Unveil Expanded Ultra HD LED TV Lines

Englewood Cliffs, N.J. — LG Electronics (LG) said Monday that it will bring a full lineup of 4K Ultra HD and Full HD LED LCD TVs to next week’s International CES 2015 in Las Vegas.

Models for 2015 will feature new designs, more features and picture quality enhancements.

LG’s LED 4K Ultra HD TV lineup will include several new technologies to expand the color gamut, including technologies appearing in LG’s ColorPrime series of wide color LED TVs and in LG’s previously announced line of 4K LED TV, which offer a wider color gamut based on quantum dot technology.

LG said the Wide Color LED technology uses different phosphor-based LEDs to display greater color depth, more lifelike images and deliver a 25 percent increase in color gamut. The line with quantum dot technology will offer high color accuracy along with a 30 percent increase in the color gamut.

LG said both technologies allow for even thinner cabinet depths, approaching the slim dimensions of its OLED TV technology. LG will show an Ultra Slim concept TV with a sleek, slim bezel and seamless appearance at CES.

The 4K UHD LED TVs also include LG’s In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology for wide viewing angles and LG’s True Black Control circuitry, which uses local dimming for deeper black level and contrast performance.

Meanwhile, five models in LG’s UHD TV series (UC9, UB9800, UF9500, UF9400, and UF8500) come equipped with a multi-channel Ultra Surround System, developed in partnership with Harman/Kardon to provide compact forward-firing speakers. Additionally, the premium UF9500 series features an integrated Auditorium Stand designed to reflect and centralize sound for maximum performance.

As previously announced, many step-up sets for 2015 will also incorporate LG’s new webOS 2.0 smart TV platform, offering more user-friendly features, faster channel and source switching, and faster guide operation.

LG is also employing its 4K Upscaler algorithm into its Ultra HD TV lineup for smooth rendering of SD, HD and Full HD content.

Sets are equipped with a built-in 4K High Efficiency Video Codec (HEVC) Decoder supporting both 30p and 60p 4K content.

“LG 4K Ultra HD TVs are designed to offer a viewing experience unmatched in the TV industry,” said In-kyu Lee, LG Electronics TV leader and senior VP. “The breathtaking picture quality is underpinned by our latest ColorPrime technology for a truly superb home entertainment experience.”
