Haier Adds Its First Roku TVs

Wayne, N.J. – Haier America joined the list of companies incorporating the Roku TV operating system and Roku streaming services in select TVs.

The Haier Roku 4 series of smart LED TVs will be widely available this week in sizes ranging from 32 inches to 55 inches. They are priced at a suggested $749 for a 55-inch model, $599 for the 49-inch model, $449 for 43 inches, and $299 for 32 inches. All feature built-in Wi-Fi.

Other companies offering Roku-equipped TVs are TCL, Sharp, and Best Buy under its Insignia brand. Hisense has also announced Roku TV plans.

By incorporating the Roku OS smart-TV platform, Roku TVs access all of Roku’s streaming audio and video services, which consist of more than 2,000 streaming channels that include Sling TV and WatchESPN. The Roku TV platform is also promoted as simplifying content selection by putting all video sources — TV, Roku streaming services, and connected sources such as game consoles — on a home-screen UI. The TVs also display video, pictures and audio sent wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet running a Roku app.

Roku streaming channels feature more than 250,000 movies and TV episodes plus live sports, music, news, fitness, and other programs. With Roku Feed, the TVs let consumers know when specific content is available for streaming and at what price. With the feature, consumers can get updates on when in-theater movies will be available for streaming.

The Roku Search feature searches the availability and pricing of specific movies and TV shows across almost 20 streaming channels. Consumers can also search for actors and directors and view filmographies.

Roku TVs can also be controlled with a mobile device using the free Roku mobile app for iOS, Android and Windows Phone smartphones. The iOS and Android versions add voice search.

Consumers can cast Netflix and YouTube from mobile devices direct to a Roku TV as well as cast personal video, photos and music.

Retailers selling the Haier TVs will include Conn’s Home Plus and NATM stores such as Nebraska Furniture Mart, and Nationwide Marketing Group retailers, including Paul’s TV.
