D&H Builds Small-PC Portfolio, Partners With XYZ

Sees broad applications for small-profile computers 7/31/2015 08:30:00 AM Eastern

Harrisburg, Pa. — D&H Distributing foresees big things for small computers.

The national IT and CE distributor is expanding its assortment of small-form-factor (SFF) PCs from the likes of Acer, ASUS, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Intel and Lenovo.

Despite dimensions as diminutive as 4 by 4 by 1 inches, many models such as the HP ProDesk 600 G1 Mini PC, the Gigabyte Brix Pro Mini, and the Intel Rock Canyon 5th Generation NUC nonetheless boast premium Intel Core processors and powerful Intel solid-state drives for speed, durability, easy manageability and quiet operation, D&H said.

Such small-profile PCs offer a roster of benefits, including portability, competitive pricing, lower energy consumption and high-performance specs that can drive a wide range of applications, such as gaming, home theater, digital signage, retail kiosks and video-surveillance systems.

Their minimal footprint also supports such use-case scenarios as public safety, utility, scientific research and retail, where unobtrusiveness is desired, the distributor said.

“Small-form-factor computers have a great deal to offer any industry requiring an easily re-configured environment, yet where users are still looking to leverage full-power, permanent desktops in their workplaces,” explained D&H sales senior VP Jeff Davis. “These units offer the best of both worlds, with rapid processing and a low-profile, space-saving design, often with a lesser footprint than even a tablet device. It affords its owner a certain amount of portability similar to a mobile device. For the cost, and combined with other savings in space and energy, SFF models present a tremendous value.”

In other D&H news, the company has partnered with XYZprinting to bring its line of da Vinci 3D printers to the educational channel. D&H will support the expansion into the K-12 and higher-education markets with a resource page at DandH.com, plus educational sessions through such forums as its Solutions Lab Training Center.

“We’re thrilled to provide their industry-leading, accessible and affordable 3D printers to our rapidly expanding list of customers,” said Rob Eby, D&H purchasing VP. “As 3D printing continues to drive demand in the marketplace, especially in the education sector, we look forward to working with XYZprinting to increase consumer accessibility to these sought-after solutions.”
