AT&T Stuffing Stockings With Smart Watches, Phones, Camera

Dallas — AT&T is gearing up for the holiday season with the launch of the Moto 360 and LG G Watch R smart watches, HTC’s first viewfinder-less point-and-shoot camera, two Windows phones from HTC and Nokia, and a ruggedized Kyocera LTE phone.

The carrier also plans on Nov. 7 to display the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge phablet in select stores.

Starting Nov. 7, the carrier will offer the Moto 360 smart watch, based on the Android Wear OS, at www.att.com and AT&T stores for $249. For a limited time, consumers will also be able to buy it for $199 when bundled with the new Moto X smartphone.

On Nov. 5, the carrier’s website will offer the Android-Wear LG G Watch R at $299 followed by carrier-store availability on Nov. 7.

In smartphones:

–The Windows Phone 8.1 Nokia Lumia 830, the thinnest Lumia to date, will be available first through AT&T stores and AT&T’s web site on Nov. 7 at $99 with two year contract, $449 unsubsidized with no annual commitment, $18.75/month on the Next 18 program, or $22.50/month with Next 12.

–HTC’s 16-megapixel RE camera, shaped like a periscope, will be available Nov. 7 in the AT&T direct channels at $199, but consumers get $50 off if they also purchase the new HTC Desire Eye camera.

–HTC’s Desire EYE smartphone, which is being launched exclusively through AT&T, will be available Nov. 7 at $149 with two-year contract, $549 unsubsidized without contract, $22.92/month on the Next 18 installment-payment/trade-up program, or $27.50/month on the Next 12 program.

— HTC’s all-metal One (M8) for Windows will be available Nov. 7 on the company’s website and in its stores at $199 with contract, $669 without contract, $27.92/month with Next 18, or $33.60/month with Next 12. It’s already available on the Verizon network.

In addition, Kyocera’s ruggedized waterproof LTE DuraForce will become the first Kyocera ruggedized phone available on the AT&T network on Nov. 7 at ATT.com and AT&T business channels, and on Nov. 21 in AT&T retail stores at $49 with two-year contract, $389 with no contract, $16.63/month on the Next 18 program, and $19.95/month on Next 12.

The Kyocera phone with 4.5-inch 720p display is built to meet the IPX8 standard for immersion in 6 feet of water for up to 30 minutes. It also meets the Military Standard 810G standard to withstand dust, shock, vibration, temperature extremes, blowing rain, solar radiation and salt fog. It also comes with 3,100 mAh non-removable battery and Smart Sonic receiver, which replaces a traditional speaker with a ceramic actuator to transmit sound vibrations directly to the eardrum. The technology dramatically increases the clarity and intelligibility of incoming calls in noisy environments and effectively turns the whole front face of a phone into a speaker so users can press the phone against their ear to block out ambient noise while conducting a conversation, the company said.

The DuraForce also features Android 4.4.2 OS, Qualcomm quad-core 1.4GHz CPU, 16GB of onboard storage, 32GB MicroSD card slot and 3,100 mAh lithium-ion battery. The touchscreen can be used when wet or the user is wearing gloves.

The Nokia Lumia 830 will join what AT&T called “the largest and most advanced portfolio of Windows Phone 8.1 devices.”

The body is made of metal and polycarbonate, housing a 5-inch HD display, 16GB of onboard storage, 128GB MicroSD slot, 2,200 mAh lithium-ion battery with talk time up to 11 hours, built-in PMA (Power Matters Alliance) wireless charging, and 10-megapixel PureView main camera with Zeiss optics and optical image stabilization.

For a limited time, purchasers get a free $99 Fitbit Flex with the purchase of the 830.
