Zagg Blends Glass, Sapphire For New InvisibleShield Screen Protector

Zagg, known for its family of scratch- and impact-resistant screen protectors and myriad mobile accessories, is taking phone protection to a new level.

Its new InvisibleShield Sapphire Defense, due out in October, is infused with sapphire, making it the world’s first hybrid-glass screen protector, Zagg said.

Adding the gemstone imparts “unparalleled” scratch resistance, and impact protection that’s seven times that of bare screens, the company noted, while retaining a smooth, tactile feel; HD clarity; and an anti-smudge and self-healing surface.

Sapphire Defense is priced to retail for $50.

Also new is InvisibleShield Glass+, a tempered-glass screen protector with reinforced edges that employs “ion matrix technology” for strengthened, polished and imperfection-free glass, and twice the impact protection of bare screens.

Out now, Glass+ carries a $40 suggested retail.

Like all InvisibleShield screen protectors, both products carry a limited replacement warranty for the life of the device.

“As mobile devices have become the epicenter of our lives, we believe your screen should look as good today as the day you first purchased your device,” said Zagg president Brian Stech. “This mentality drives us to work tirelessly to ensure mobile users can charge through life free from the fear of a damaged screen, confident to know the world’s most advanced screen protection and lifetime warranty are protecting them.”

According to The NPD Group, Zagg has sold more than 120 million InvisibleShield screen protectors worldwide through national chains, mobile carrier stores and other retail outlets. The company also sells mobile keyboards, power products and personal audio under the Zagg, Mophie and iFrogz brands.
