New York — Within hours of the introduction of the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, Case-Mate rolled out a line of Built For BlackBerry-certified cases for the device.
The Case-Mate Crafted Woods collection was inspired by vintage automotive interiors, the company said, combining natural wood materials with polished brushed-aluminum accents.
Two finishes are available. Rosewood, sustainably harvested in Southeast Asia, highlights the natural color range of the wood, from a warm brick-red to a rust-brown color with darker streaks showcasing a narrowly interlocked grain.
Zebrawood, sustainably harvested in Central Africa, is patterned with a chaotic and wavy striping that resembles a zebra’s stripes, the company said. The dark stripes range from dark brown to black, and the lighter portion ranges from light tan to golden yellow.
Both wood cases retail for $80.
Also for the Z10, Case-Mate's Refined collection was inspired by the strength and polish found in natural metals and metallics, the company said. The first case in the collection is made of refined brushed aluminum, available in Brushed Gunmetal with black accents.
Case-Mate's Signature collection features natural leather grains, hides and colors. The Signature Flip has 360-degree front and back protection and a soft microfiber lining. It comes in black and retails for $50.
Under the Olo by Case-Mate brand, two new protection-first cases are being offered. The Tough Classic is a snug, form-fitting silicone wrap that provides shock resistance with a polycarbonate hard shell to protect against impact. It comes in black and retails for $35.
The Olo Barely There is a minimal case design, covering the back and corners of the device with a hard protective shell and a soft-touch, matte finish. It is available in black and white and retails for $30.
Coming next month Case-Mate's I Make My Case custom-design option will be extended to the new BlackBerry. Consumers can design a custom case with images uploaded from a computer, Instagram or Facebook, and combine them with a choice of backgrounds and effects. The custom cases start at $45 and will be available in mid-February.
