Arlington, Va. - The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)
has received the 2010 CARE award from Northern Virginia Family Services (NVFS)
as a recognition of the association's leadership among Northern Virginia
employers in providing family-friendly benefits to help employees balance work
This is CEA's second consecutive year winning and third CARE
"CEA is proud to continue to support a family-friendly
workplace that encourages work-life balance," said CEA president and CEO Gary
Shapiro. "Employee input helped develop CEA's benefits package, allowing us to
implement policies and benefits that directly improve overall work/life
NVFS commended CEA for its leadership among Northern
Virginia employers offering family-friendly benefits, including: a unique
mortgage assistance benefit through which qualified CEA employees can receive a
$25,000 unsecured, forgivable loan to apply to a down payment on the purchase
of a primary residence in Arlington County, near CEA headquarters; access to a
24/7 on-site gym and boot camp, strength training and yoga classes at no cost to
CEA employees; a 35-hour work week with flexible hours, and the opportunity to
work from home one day a week - telecommuting is environmentally friendly and
good for employee efficiency and morale.
The CARE award was created in 1992 to encourage companies to
institute family-friendly programs. By recognizing companies that have
developed innovative benefits and policies, NVFS aims to increase
family-friendly policies within the Northern Virginia business community.
