Tech 21 Intros Advanced Screen Protection

New York — Tech21 has extended its Impactology line of smartphone and tablet protection products with the new Impact Shield, a multi-layer screen film that incorporates BulletShield impact-protection polymer.

The Impact Shield film features a hard self-healing anti-scratch layer over a harder protection inner layer developed by BASF that disperses the force of an impact by as much as 80 percent. The bottom layer is a soft film that absorbs any residual impact force.

The three layers combine to provide non-yellowing UV protection with no optical clarity compromise, the company said.

The BASF protection interlayer in the BulletShield that was developed for military-grade bulletproof glass and is also used in aircraft cockpit windshields.

The Impact Shield features OneTouch adhesive that allows for simplified application with a bubble-free finish. A demonstration in the TWICE office, in which this reporter unboxed the film and followed the instructions, resulted in a clean, bubble-free application in less than one minute.

Impact Shields for the iPhone 5, Galaxy S III and S4 — as well as the Galaxy Note tablet, iPad and iPad Mini — will retail for $29.99 and will roll out to all T-Mobile carrier stores on May 1.
